FAQ's
If you have any other questions please give me a call
or get in touch.
Q. How many Weddings do you do per year?
A. I do around 120 events each year. Most of them are Weddings.
The others are a mix of Birthday Parties and Corporate Events.
Q. How soon before my event will you need my Play-List?
A. Although a play-List is not essential it is always a good idea to know
what sort of music you would like played.
I
will need to know your First and Second Dances at least two weeks prior
to your event. But if you have a play-list of 10 - 20 songs please send
it to me 21 days before the event.
Any music lists can be made up via our client portal where you can search
our entire music catalogue. Your guests can also submit music requests
on-line.
Q. Can you call a few Ceilidh Dances?
A. Yes, I can call a number of ceilidh dances and although I am asked
to do so normally for up to an hour,I will learn any dances I don't already
know and call them for whatever time you would like.
Q. We have friends that would like to sing or do an act. Is this
alright with you?
A. Yes. Provided they let us know their exact requirements, and we can
accomodate them, this is no problem.
The sooner we know about this the better prepared we will be.
Q. Can you provide a Karaoke service at my event?
A. Yes, though I need advance notice so I can bring a monitor and microphones.
Q. Are there any extra charges if you play past midnight?
A. No, our standard fee is for 5 hours any time up to 1am. An additional
fee may apply for time over 5 hours.
Q. How much time do you require to set up?
A. We normally need 45mins to set up but more time will be needed for
events where extra equipment is booked.
Q. Can you set-up during the day-time?
A. Yes as long as our schedule and venues allow time, we also need to
consider parking regulations.
Let us know what is required and we can discuss what we can do.
Q. Do you have a Portable Appliance Testing certificate?
A. Yes. All my equipment has been electrically tested by a qualified engineer.
Q. Do you have a Public Liability Insurance?
A. Yes. I have a £10m policy.
Q. How far can you travel to perform at an event?
A. I don't charge any mileage fee within 30miles of Edinburgh. But I can
travel any distance if travelling costs are covered.
Q. When do you require payment?
A. A non-refundable Deposit is required to secure a booking within 21
days of making the booking.
The
balance is required 21 days prior to the event.
Q.
Can we come and see you perform?
A. Most of our business is for private clients at their parties.
We
do not feel that it is appropraite to invite you to veiw us at one of
them.
We
do very few events where the public have entry and you would be welcome
to attend one of these. Liitle can be gained from veiwing us in advance
unless you are intending to stay all night due to the varied clients and
styles we have.
No
two events are the same and it is likely that the event you attend would
be very different from yours.
Q. Will our guests still be able to hear themselves talk while
you DJ?
A. Yes. I am aware of the need to keep volume levels within comfortable
limits, especially when everyone is in the same room. We know that most
people do wish to talk at the start of an event so we set levels accordingly.
Later
in the event the levels will be adjusted so a good balance is provided
throughout the venue. This can result in it being noisy near to the speakers
but still very comfortable at a short distance.
We
advise that any guests wishing to have lower volume levels position themselves
further from our performance area. This is also relevant to guests who
do not wish to have the lighting in their face. Just common sense really.
We
do many events which are high powered and energetic.
These events, and many venues, need higher volumes and additional lighting.
